How to do I get a Marriage License?
Maui Storybook Weddings will arrange a marriage license appointment for you, and provide directions to the appointment. The state of Hawaii does not require blood testing or waiting period.  You and your fiancé will both need to be present, with valid IDs, such as driver licenses.  The marriage license fee is $65 dollars paid directly to the licensing agent in cash.  The agent will issue you a license, that you must bring it with you on the day of your wedding.

Location: Beach or Private?
When choosing the location of your wedding, you have to consider many logistics ranging from price to privacy. If privacy is a priority, we suggest using one of our private venues, such as a tropical garden, resort, or private estate. Some of these locations are oceanfront and provide a covered area in case of inclement weather.

A very popular location to get married is the beach. While romantic, the beaches on Maui are open to the public and there is always a possibility of another wedding occurring at the same time.

Do you work with hotels?
We work with some of the best resorts and restaurants in Maui, and specialize in working with those in Wailea and Makena. We use many of the same venders as the hotel and are able to provide our services at a lower price.

What day of the week is best for a wedding?
If you want to have your ceremony on a public beach, you may want to consider a weekday over a weekend. On the weekend more people are visiting the beaches, including tourist and local residents. Also, other couples are may be getting married.

What time of day is best for my wedding?
Outdoor wedding on public beaches can be done from sunrise to sunset. For the best photographs, we suggest right after sunrise and right before sunset. This is when the photographer has the best light. All sunset ceremonies will start well enough before sunset to allow enough time for the ceremony and photographs afterwards. For sunrise ceremonies we like to start between 7:30 AM and 8:30 AM depending on the time of year.

What can I do to ensure my wedding goes smoothly?
The number one thing is to be on time. We will have everything in place to run smoothly as long as the wedding starts on time. If your wedding is at sunset, being on time is most important since the sun sets quickly on Maui and we need the last few moments of daylight.
